Fall on the Farm!

2024 Subscription Signup, Fancy Tulip Bulbs for Sale, and a Fall Recap!

Late summer came and went in the way of a worker bee! Transitioning into our new farm house with three kids under three kept my hands busy and the blog empty! Though our social media page and website was quiet, the fields and homestead were bustling!

At the fields a fall highlights include the dahlia rows bursting into color after taking their sweet time to flower in this years drought. We were a stop at fabulous Backwoods Studio Crawl put on by the Vergas Art Committee, hosted the Lady Slipper Garden Club, and the Wild + Free Homeschool group for a Mamma’s get together. Amber Langerud Photography even came out to do a branding photo shoot in the flowers! I’m sure you’ll see the stunning new photos sprinkled throughout!

At home we have been busy with projects that breath love into our new farmstead. In July we purchased a beautiful farmhouse with 80 acres from a family that is very near dear to me. The sweet soul who made her life here before us is the one who taught me to crochet and bake pies. It is surreal to help True pick apples from the same trees that Margie and I once picked from. The charm of this home is also accompanied by countless projects, the less glamorous ones taking priority over the more fun cosmetic ones. Currently the farmhouse is getting a new steel roof, sewer, waterlines, and updated electrical. With the help of a whole crew of talented handymen, we have a new garage with seeding space for the flowers this spring. I look forward to continue adding to the sweet country charm of our cozy new home and letting our babies grow in a place where they can truly be wild and free. For those wondering the flower farm will stay exactly where it is now! We have never actually lived at the flower farm and this move actually brings us closer.

October saw True turn three and brings Della and Well’s first birthday! We survived a year with three kids two and under! As I plant tulip bulbs this year I am reminded of my last few days being pregnant with the twins last year. I made it to 37 weeks and was praying that planting 13,000 tulip bulbs would induce labor! Three days later I was holding my sweet 6.5lb and 7.8lb babies! However I’m looking forward to a much less eventful tulip planting this year.
