Undreamed of Surprises.

“Even cowards can endure hardship; only the brave can endure suspense.” - Mignon McLaughlin

“…we never thought that we could tolerate the suspense of living. We believed that if we could just control everything—how people see us, how our children turn out, how a client progresses—then we would be safe. As we have begun to let go of our illusion of control, we find that life is indeed scary sometimes. We also find that it holds the potential of undreamed-of surprises and suspenseful moments that we handle well and from which we grow.” —Meditations for Women Who Do To Much

If I were to define my inaugural season with True Blue Flower Co. I would describe it as a season devoted to embracing suspense. A season of learning to relinquish control and finding so much “potential in undreamed-of surprises.” There was no hard blueprint, no detailed roadmap labeled with every turn until my destination. There was simply a blank page where so many were allowed to contribute. An idea written down here or there as they came to me. Some written twice, some scribbled out. Words and phrases that were added when other plans didn’t workout. From this blank page patterns began to emerge and dots began to connect. Freeing, journey, U-Pick, yoga, release, small town, connect, empower, support, flower, and grow.

The point is when I first looked at this in January field full of weeds and covered in snow, I didn’t know where this journey would end up. I gave up my “illusion of control” and decided to trust and to make decisions in the moment. With this came so, so much hard work and “suspenseful moments…from which we grow.” I am humbled and honored and proud of what year one has brought. As year one wraps up I am eager to begin thinking about year two.

I would love if you all would be part of planning for year two! You all are a huge part of the reason I started True Blue Flower Co. so stay tuned in the upcoming months as look for your input in building this next season!
