The Flower Field

IMG_9949.JPG

I did a little snowshoeing in the spot where our cut flowers will grow. As my cheeks flushed and my hair whipped in the wind, it was hard to envision the fragrant rows of flowers warmed by July sunshine I picture in my head. I was a little discouraged. But then I came across the milkweed patch that grows adjacent to our flower fields. I wonder if this little seed covered in fluff knows it has the potential to grow into the monarch caterpillars only food source?

Probably not. Maybe it’s a good thing that the little seed doesn’t know about it’s future. The little seed can focus on the next thing in line. Find the soil. Sprout. Grow. Flower. While it focused on the task at hand it managed to save a species.

This was my queue to worry a little less about all the things I need to make this field into my dream and focus a little more on the task at hand. Planting seeds!
