Planting the Tree.

"The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. Then next best time is now." - Chinese Proverb

This phrase calms me and makes me anxious at the same time. Whenever I plan to do things I often think things have to be just right. I have to make sure that I have thought of several scenarios, researched, ruminated, outlined, rough drafted, revised, and then I feel comfortable enough to start. Maybe it is from all my English classes that taught before you could even think about putting pen to paper you had to spend a week in the library with flashcards taking down notes. You then had to outline and then build sentence structure, etc., etc. By the time I got through writing the report I forgot what I was even writing about. All I cared about was that it was "done correctly." Don't get me wrong I think this approach is needed in a lot of places, but I think I have implemented it into a few too many aspects in my life.

What I mean is I take so much time trying to get everything planned and perfect before I begin that I loose some of the joy behind doing things - or I get so overwhelmed that I never get started. Sometimes you just need to start and trust that it will develop along the way. The perfect time to "plant that tree" may never come. You may feel that next year is a better time for the tree, or you need to think a little more about where to plant it and what kind to get. I may risk not having the perfect tree, but at least I can see it mature in my lifetime.

This is my approach to True Blue Flower Co. I have been thinking about it for long enough. I have laid the ground work and instead of spending my time perfecting, I need to spend my time planting. I can't wait.
