As Summer Strolls By.

I fell asleep to the cool evenings of Spring and woke up with a hot Summer breeze. Closed my eyes on bare branches and opened them up to full trees of green. In an instant, freezing nights gave way to heavy heat on a Summer afternoon. It feels as if a starting gun has gone off, the gates have opened, the race has begun. A new busyness abounds us, an anxiousness to fit so much life into a sweet, short Summer. A fast-forward button has been pressed, 2x the speed. With this new busyness my habits get tested, the little rituals I practice to keep balanced. My mind seems to shift in an effort to fit everything in. No opportunity missed, no event left behind. I can feel this new pace is unsustainable. I know I can fit everything in—but will it truly be enjoyed? So for now I’m relearning the habits and slowing down the mind. Taking time to sit, taking time to unwind. After all the Summer is sweet and short, I want to be present as this season strolls by.

We have had a beautiful and busy two weeks! Building fence, installing irrigation, and planting plugs has taken up the most of our time with a little fishing snuck in. True might be more fond of flowers than fish at the moment but I’m sure that will change. A few early blooms have been giving us a teaser of what’s to come!
