The Rush.
Today I look out my window at the newly snow-covered branches. My eye catches the red breasts of spring robins, no doubt questioning their journey northwards. I glimpse down at my newly emerged tulips disappearing again as the wind stacks wet, heavy flakes of snow against them. This Spring more than most has been spent in a frivolous state. Eager and anxious to put flowers into the freshly tilled ground. Convincing myself that zone 3’s last frost date must be wrong. Surely my tender annuals will go unnoticed by jack frost if planted in the ground. But today serves as a frosty reminder, a snowy sign to slow down. Nature moves at its own pace, so its best not to rush it along.
I am a lover of all things audiobook, but an audiobook written and narrated by Matthew McConaughey takes my love to a whole other level. Greenlights is McConaughey’s collection of life stories, random thoughts, quick journals, and and his take on life. It is a good reminder to take life for what it is and to make the most of the path in front of you or as The Washington Post states “it pushes an ethos of learning to take your hands off the wheel.” It’s a nice breezy, lighthearted listen that puts you in a good mood. Did I mention its read by Matthew McConaughey?
“It’s a love letter. To life. It’s also a guide to catching more greenlights—and to realizing that the yellows and reds eventually turn green too.”
What an amazing week! Before the snow came we got some 70 degree weather. True and I spent it running out first 5K together at Vergas’ Maple Syrup Fest. True napped and I huffed and puffed. Chicks are also hatching this week. So far we have 7 fluffy babies peeping and pecking with a few more on the way. Stay tuned. Warm weather brought picnics and baby sunhats - there truly is nothing cuter. And most exciting of all, this week brought a team effort to till in my flower rows! I am so thankful for the friends and family that helped with this vision. Watching the 13 75ft rows being tilled in made my dream feel a little more concrete…but also a little more intimidating.
With love,
Bayleigh
