Taking Time for the Transitions.

June is a month of transition in the flower field. After we wrap up the busyness of planting and tulips there is an early summer lull in what is blooming. Enough flowers speckle the field to fill the farm stand and subscriptions, but not enough to open our U-Picks. The flowers are busy growing and we are busy watering and weeding. Though we are busy, I always have this underlying feeling we should be doing more to have a June filled with blooms or find other ways to market ourselves. I’ve noticed this desire in a lot of other areas of my life too. Instead of sitting and resting durning these transition times, I feel the need to fill them with constant tasks. I think I am gaining productivity, but what I’m really doing is denying myself the much need rest that come with these transition times.

Sometimes the pressure to take action can create its own kind of turmoil. Allowing yourself to sit without the immediate need to fix or change or be busy might offer a different kind of relief. It’s like giving yourself permission to pause and breath rather than constantly pushing forward.

So this is me reminding you it is ok - important even- to be in the transition time. Wether that be phases in life, your year, or just between tasks of productivity in your day.

As for the flower fields, they are busy in their own transition time so they can great you with field full of blooms come in a few weeks! Until then the farmstand and bouquet drops will be the best way to get you your flower fix! Peonies and ranunculus will be greeting you in bouquets by the end of the week!
